POUGHKEEPSIE – The #28 Vassar College Women’s Tennis team won for the sixth straight outing on Saturday following an 8-1 Liberty League victory over St. Lawrence.
Sophomore Erin McCusker pushed her singles winning streak to 10 matches.
Saturday’s win pushes Vassar to 8-3 overall on the season and 2-0 in conference play with the Saints falling to 6-6 overall and 1-2 in league play.
Doubles
The Brewers opened up a 3-0 lead with a sweep of the doubles competition.
The first pair of McCusker and Macey Dowd improved to 7-4 on the season after battling to an 8-6 victory.
The middle duo of Iris Li and Maddie Kirby eased to an 8-3 victory, earning their sixth straight win in the process.
Ananya Krishnan and Elyse Duley also posted their sixth straight victory with an 8-3 triumph at the third position.
Singles
McCusker moved to 10-1 in singles play at the top flight on Saturday with a convincing 6-1, 6-2 victory for the Brewers.
Li also moved to 10-1 on the season and won for the sixth straight match with a 7-6 (7-1), 6-3 third singles victory.
Krishnan battled to a 7-5, 6-4 win at fourth singles to improve to 9-2 on the season following a sixth straight win.
Kirby continued a strong rookie season on Saturday with a 6-1, 6-3 win at the fifth slot, improving to 7-4 on the season.
Duley cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 win at the sixth position, good for a fifth straight singles victory.
Vassar will be off until hosting St. Thomas Aquinas on April 7.
