NEWBURGH – Forty-one (41) of the NFA Girls and Boys Varsity Crew Team scholar athletes raced in nine different events at the New York State Scholastic Rowing Championships, or “States.”
The team did excellent with nearly all of the boats surpassing several of the other scholastic based crews within our league.
The Girls Varsity 4+ A boat advanced based on their time trials to finals and placed 4th scholastically!
That boat is compromised of Carmen Burgarelli (coxswain), Jamie Cullen, Augustina White, Charlie Perry, and Allie Vandalinda (pictured).
The season’s previous two regattas were cancelled due to unsafe rowing conditions however this Saturday was the Orange/Ulster Cup Championship of which the girls team has held the cup for four of the previous 6 years, with the boys team in 2nd, and Sunday is Hudson Valley Rowing League Novice Championship!
