Mount Slams Four Home Runs en Route to Victory

SCHENECTADY – The Mount Saint Mary College baseball team homered four times to score a season-high 22 runs in its win over Union.

Mount Saint Mary traveled north for some non-conference action with Union College. If you’re a fan of offense, this was the game for you, as both teams combined for a total of 32 runs, including a season-high 22 from the Mount. The Knights opened up the game with a monstrous seven-run inning that saw home runs from Kaleb Morgan and Gregory Harrison. Union managed to score four runs of their own to make it an 11-run first inning with the Mount up 7-4. The home runs would not stop there for the Knights, as Stephen Volk was absolutely slugging in this one, hitting a home run in the 2nd inning, on top of his three doubles on the day. Aidan Marshall would add to the fun with a home run in the top of the 3rd, as the team led 11-4.

In the bottom half of the 5th, the Garnet Chargers managed to put together a four-run inning to make things interesting, as they cut the Mount lead to 13-9. Kyle Fives would come in out of the bullpen and perform very well for the Knights, earning himself his first-career victory behind 4.1 innings pitched, five strikeouts, and just one earned run. RBI hits from Stephen Volk, Richard Lamping, and Christian Parisa added to the Knights’ total to put them up 18-9. Mount Saint Mary put up another four insurance runs in the top of the 9th, as they would defeat Union College 22-10.
