HUDSON VALLEY – Central Hudson crews continued to make progress through the night, restoring power to customers who were impacted by the powerful storms that ripped through the Hudson Valley and interrupted service to nearly 57,000 customers on Independence Day. As of 10 a.m., Tuesday morning, more than 46,000 customers – representing more than 80% of those affected – have been restored.
Central Hudson stated, “Our crews are focused on restoring service to the remaining pockets of outages in our service area. Many of these outages still involve multiple repairs, replacing broken poles, or the use of specialized equipment. We know electric service is an essential resource, and we appreciate our customers’ patience as we work safely to get the lights back on.”
They expect to have power restored to 95%, or more, of customers impacted by mid day on Wednesday.
In Yonkers, the Department of Parks, Recreation & Conservation, DPW and other City departments are actively addressing downed trees, debris and other storm related issues as quickly and safely as possible. Many locations require coordination with Con Edison before crews can begin work, and more than 200 tree related calls have already been reported.
