Sunday’s 10th Anniversary of La Guelaguetza, held at Poughkeepsie’s Waterfront, featured traditional, colorful Mexican dancing, along with an assortment of authentic foods, crafts, clothing and other items, as well as children’s activities and community services.

The three are part of a group, “Grannies Respond,” that left from Beacon last week and are headed to the border in Texas in several vans picking up people along the way in several states, to help protect the inhumane treatment of immigrant families as well as support those working on the ground. Gathering national attention and momentum in just one month, the energized group, who will be holding sing- alongs, marches and other forms of unity during their 8 day trek, is hoping to help incite the immediate return of children with their parents.
