By Ed McCarthySAUGERTIES - The 13th Annual Sawyer Car Show was held on Sunday, July 9th. Most of the downtown area was shut down and filled with more than 500 antique, custom and historic vehicles.  Many food vendors were also on hand.The great weather brought out thousands from Ulster County and the surrounding area. Playing on the main stage was the featured band “Soul City”. The group was introduced by WBPM’s Bob Miller who called them “The Premier soul band of the Hudson Valley.” The group kept the crowd entertained with many 60’s & 70’s Soul classics from Motown, Watt Stax, and Philly soul hits.

Newburgh Free Academy students, Iliana Lopez (sophomore), Pearlasha Cook (junior), and Taina Caballero (junior), long-time members of the Newburgh Performing Arts Academy’s Dance Program, who qualified for the prestigious, “invitation only” KAR Hollywood Dance Invitational in Hollywood, California on December 27-30 later this year by placing first in the 12-14 year old Trio category at a dance competition in Torrington, Connecticut in March earlier this year.
